For a number of years a groups of friends and I took the "Bungalow" an old hunting lodge in Martindale, Lake District, for New Year. The Red Deer grazed around the building, steadily climbing the hill away from disturbance as the day's activities began.

Martindale has reputedly the oldest herd of Red Deer in England, and the "Bungalow" was constructed in 1910 by Hugh Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale for a visit by the German Emperor, Wilhelm II.
